Coach Logan began the afternoon with a message to his team.

“We want a bloodless overthrow,” Logan said. His strategy for Harrisonburg’s match against Fort Defiance was to take at least five of the six singles matches to assure victory. He was pleased with the results.

Juniors Jason Muan, Theodore Yoder, and seniors Joaquin Orozco, Peter Kim and Karan Chalishajar all won their matches. Muan, Orozco and Chalishajar in a 10-0 shutout. Because of these results, the team knew they had improved to 3-2 regardless of the results in doubles.

The team stayed focused throughout and stayed away from “brunch and cocktails with [their] opponents” as coach Logan warned them of a few times throughout the match.

The tennis team will travel to Broadway later, and is hoping for similar results.
