Honors classes are tough, but worth the extra effort

Because I’m taking honors classes, I am loaded with stress by the end of each day. I pull all-nighters while on Facetime with a classmate who is in the same situation, drinking tons of coffee in the morning. Despite all the anxiety that honors classes have caused, I  continue to push through because I know they will be beneficial for me in the future.

Honors classes have been a huge step from middle school classes that I’ve been in before. Now, I know what you’re thinking, ¨It was your decision to take honors classes.¨ This is true, but I never thought it’d be this hard. Not only do the honors teachers load you with assignments and homework that lead to procrastination, but the lessons are taught in a rapid-fire fashion, which I don’t appreciate. A new lesson is learned every day in honors classes, and while I feel the pressure to get my work done every day, I feel confident that it will lead to better work and study habits in the future.

Although I’ve complained about the amount of work given in these classes, my procrastination problems and how everything is taught is too fast, honors classes are beneficial. Not only will they prepare you for other harder classes in the school, but it’ll push you to do better than your best all the time. I’ve always had good grades, but the motivation to always maintain those grades is very high. Depending on the classes you take, GPAs will look different. Honors classes add an extra bump to your GPA as long as you pass with a C which is average.

In order to do well in these classes, you must stay attentive in class, use time given during class efficiently and do your best to complete the loads of homework given. However, I totally recommend taking more advanced classes which can lead to a great, knowledge-packed high school career.
