Varsity game recap by Sports Editor Theo Yoder:

The Varsity girls basketball team fell 53-39 to the Colonels of James Wood Thursday night. After trailing 26-20 at the half, the Streaks were unable to come back from the deficit and were handed their second loss of the season. They are now 1-2. Junior Maddie Cooper, who plays the position of point guard, felt both positives and negatives came out of the game.

“I played defense really well and was able to get a few steals. Being all over them with hard defense makes the other team nervous and they start making turnovers. As a team we played good and were able to move the ball,” Cooper said.

As the Streaks put the loss behind them and look forward to next week, Cooper feels like they could make some improvements as a team.

“We need to start off the game good with high energy. We haven’t started off our games good because of our poor mentality. If we start the game with high energy from the very beginning we can force turnovers and put points on the board,” Cooper said.
