On Saturday, Feb. 27, students auditioned for the All-Virginia band and orchestra. Five out of the twelve students who auditioned were accepted into the band.

Senior Hollyn Slykhuis has made it into the band twice before, her sophomore and junior year. Slykhuis is 22nd chair.

“I am very excited to be going back to states since it will be my third consecutive year. My chair isn’t the best it could have been, but at this level of competition I am just glad to be selected and I’m proud to see my work pay off,” Slykhuis said. She is planning on majoring in trumpet performance and education in college next year.
