Once again, HHS emerges with a victory. On Wednesday, April 29th, the boys and girls varsity outdoor track teams travelled to Spotswood High School to butt heads with other teams in the area: Spotswood (of course), East Rockingham, Turner Ashby, and Broadway.

The girl’s team racked up 137 points, putting themselves in first place. Turner Ashby came in second, with 109, Spotswood 45, Broadway 36 and East Rockingham 27.

The greatest benefactor to the team, point-wise, was senior Mikaila Williams, who won both the 100 and 200 meter dashes.

Alas, the HHS boy’s team proved to be no match for Turner Ashby’s relentless assault of sprinters, triple jumpers and shot-putters. T.A. walked away with 118 total points; Harrisonburg, however, staged a valiant effort – the team left the track with second place status and 102 points. Spotswood amassed a total of 49 points, Broadway 45, and East Rockingham 40.

Both the boys and girls teams showed prowess in the long jump event; Isaiah Parker and Williams secured victories for HHS.
The varsity track teams will compete again this Friday, April 1st, at Fluvanna High School.
