On December 2, after the parade, two bands played at Clementine: Strong Water and The Last Bison. The lead singers of the two bands have similar opinions on the parts of being in a band. Greg Brennan, lead singer of the band Strong Water, opened for The Last Bison.

“[I love]  the community and family we create. It’s great because you get to create together and have fun with it. It’s really all about the fun,” Brennan said.

Strong Water plays Americana style music. They use an electric bass, drums, a banjo, the violin, and an acoustic guitar to create a rocking, sometimes slow, environment.

“We’ve been together for about two years now.” Brennan said. “Right now, my favorite song is probably sailor.” Brennan said.

Ben Hardesty is the lead for The Last Bison.

“We’ve been playing for about six years. With the [new] group, this was the first time playing with all the new guys,” Hardesty said.

“[My favorite song] is probably Envue. It’s off out record Virginia,” Hardesty said. The Last Bison also plays Americana, but they lean more toward the electric side of music. At their performance at Clementine, they had two people on keyboard, a drummer, electric and acoustic guitar player (Hardesty), and an electric bass and cello player.

“I like the collaborative effort. When you create something with any partner, especially writing songs, it’s hard to give creative liberties over too people because [you think] it’s your creation. I like the process of getting over that, and letting other people pick a part in your music, too hopefully make it better,” Hardesty said.
